Mycelium as a Growing Natural Binder for Hemp Blocks
This research explores the potential of mycelium as a living binder to unite hemp stalks into solid, formable bio-composites—without synthetic additives or high energy input. Hemp x Myz investigates how fungal networks can be cultivated directly in and around hemp aggregates, creating structural blocks that are both biodegradable and regenerative. The project aims to develop low-tech, low-impact construction elements using regionally available agro-waste and fungal organisms, contributing to new material systems in climate-resilient architecture.
